If you look closer to the Greek map, you will see the butterfly shaped island of Astypalaia, a bridge between the Cyclades and the Dodecanese.
Peggy and Vlasis had their wedding and their daughter’s christening there, not only because of the unique Astypalean beauty, but because they also own the Maltezana Beach Hotel, in Maltezana Astypalaia, a seaside hotel complex with a pool and pool bar and the beach of Maltezana at the end of your fingertips.
Both mysteries were held in Panagia Portaitissa, Astypalaia’s main church, which was built around 1762. Following the tradition the couple was escorted to the church under the sounds of violia (the traditional wedding musicians).
The day after the wedding we took a boat trip to the lovely Koutsomyti beach and the lonely Kounoupoi island.
