31 Jan A romantic wedding in Fiscardo, Kefalonia
60 sec ediT // Serra & Yve’s wedding in Fiscardo!
Serra and Yves’ wedding was full of surprises for us, since all the arrangements were made by the wedding planner “Cleopatra weddings”.
At the end of June we received an email from Cleopatra, asking us, if we can cover a wedding in Kefalonia in August, but only videography services. The couple had already booked their wedding photographer.
We arrived in Kefalonia where we met the photographer Adrian Wood and we had a lovely coffee in Argostoli next to the lake. We had a lot to discuss, because it was the first time we collaborated with Adrian.
On our way to Fiscardo, we stopped to get some lovely shots. Just north of the stunning Myrtos beach lays the tiny and secluded village of Assos, which is one of the most beautiful and picturesque villages of the island.
Up to now we hadn’t met the happy couple. Our first meeting was cancelled by them, but it was so oddly funny the way we finally met. Hungry and tired we went to have a quick bite in a local tavern, where Yves and Serra had their pre wedding family gathering. As we sat, a bunch of people dressed in colorful dresses, full of energy barged in. We recognized Serra from one of her pictures from Facebook and we thought that it was a good chance to speak with them.
We woke up the next morning at our hotel, which was situated on Fiscardo bay. Although, Fiscardo is a former fishing village in north Kefalonia, in recent years has transformed into a high status cosmopolitan resort.
We walked around, we took some shots and we went to meet the couple at the venue, which was a beautiful old house at the end of the bay.
A bit later, we met the couple again at Almyra Hotel for their preparations. They were getting prepared in separated rooms with their close family around. Serra was marrying the man of her dreams. Without stress and always remembering the power of a smile, she got prepared and dressed.
Their orthodox wedding took place in Agios Gerasimos in Tselentata. It is built on a green hillside, among the cypresses, with unique scenery: red roofs, colorful doors and windows, green nature, with the blue sky and the sea…
After the ceremony ended, still inside the church, all the guests sung a song to the couple. One of the musicians was Yves’ brother. It was a very touching moment and the couple enjoyed the song dedicated to them.
One of us stayed with the couple for a small portrait videography session at a nearby location.
The other one went to the venue to capture in video all the beautiful wedding table settings, the decoration, the flowers and all the details that Ilia and Cleopatra took care for.
They enjoyed their wedding in their own unique way eating traditional greek food and dancing with the sounds of South Africa tunes.
The couple chose not to have a big party, but a relaxed family gahtering with their loved once around.
